Car Insurance Geo (Car Insurance). Is this car worth putting money into?Is this car worth putting money into? My boyfriend's brother gave him a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT that needs a transmission. We've gotten prices around $1200 to replace it. Other than the transmission problem, the car's good. I think that since he got the car for free, putting some money into it isn't totally unreasonable but he's getting frustrated with it since he's already spent money registering it and putting new tires on it. His brother says that if he doesn't want it, he's just going to bring it to a junkyard, which I think is ridiculous. What do you think? Is it worth putting a new transmission in this car if otherwise it's fine? certainly it,s worth a transmission. he could get a good used transmission from the junk yard cheaper then that, then hire someone to put it in. his brother don,t know about the other car he might buy either, it might be worse. if your happy then get the new transmission, wish someone would give me a car for nothin is a tough call, depends on how long that 1200 is gonna last. look is a 12-13 year old car, tran may not be the only problem, since Pontiac pron to have issues with almost all model they ever produce. The antenna is made of nylon and metal and is retractable. As a result of the general wear and tear caused by raising and lowering the antenna, the mast might occasionally need to be replaced Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Needle nose pliers Step by Step : 1 Unscrew the chromium-plated nut that secures the antenna to the RX300 using needle-nose pliers. Pull the old antenna straight up and out of the housing. 2 Ask a friend to turn the ignition key to the "Radio Only" position. The motor that powers the raising and lowering of the antenna will start and run for a moment. When it stops, the antenna is in "Up" position. 3 Fully uncoil the new antenna. Fully extend the metal telescopic part, drawing the nylon rack into the tubing. 4 Insert the rack into the antenna hole in the bodywork, orienting the rack teeth so they are facing forward. Push the rack into the hole until it will not go in any farther. 5 Ask your assistant to turn the ignition to off. The motor will start the mechanism to retract the rack. As the rack is being drawn in, guide the metal part of the antenna into the hole. The antenna should be withdrawn completely. 6 Replace the chromium nut that holds the antenna in place. Turn the ignition to "Radio On" and off a few times to ensure the new antenna is properly installed.
